Tell John Deere's CEO: Workers Deserve More!

Ten thousand John Deere workers just voted down the tractor manufacturer’s proposal to extend their current union contract through 2029 instead of returning to the bargaining table next year.

These workers, represented by UAW, said no to this extension because they know their worth. Even in the midst of an industry downturn, John Deere netted $5 billion in profits last year. The workers making those billions possible clearly deserve more.

Stand with UAW workers and send a message to Deere CEO John May: workers deserve more.

It’s not a surprise that John Deere wants to put off negotiations with UAW. The last contract fight between UAW and John Deere in 2021 was brutal–for the company. John Deere workers held the line and struck for five weeks, winning back COLA and increased wages and benefits.

Workers also speculate that John Deere wanted to use the extension to buy time to stockpile product or move production offshore to shield their profits in case workers strike again.

But John Deere workers aren’t having it. Instead of accepting an extension, they are going back to the table next year to fight for what they deserve.

“Our members see billions going to shareholders through dividends and stock buybacks, said UAW Vice President Laura Dickerson, “while the workers whose skill and labor make those profits possible are asked to accept less. Our members know their value and said NO to their offer.”
