For over a year now, unionized baristas have been fighting for a fair first contract from Blue Bottle, the upscale Nestlé-owned coffee chain.

Blue Bottle is dragging their feet at the bargaining table, but baristas can’t wait any longer for change. Under their current working conditions, some baristas are having to sell blood plasma, skip meals, or live out of their cars to make ends meet.

Blue Bottle Independent Union is fighting to secure a contract that gives workers a living wage, consistent schedules, protection from harassment, and a democratic workplace, so that they can make ends meet, feel safe at work, and live with dignity.

But Blue Bottle has shown their baristas nothing but disdain. The company has fired organizers and, after the union filed unfair labor practices with the NLRB to hold Blue Bottle accountable, likened workers to “children running to Mom and Dad.” 🤮

The union is ramping up their fight as workers prepare to strike, and they need the support of our community to keep the pressure on Blue Bottle and win a fair contract.
