Help C.A.U.S.E. Win First Union Election At Amazon in the South!

In case you missed it, the worker-led union C.A.U.S.E. filed for a union election at Amazon’s RDU1 fulfillment center in Garner, NC. The election will take place in one week, on February 10-15. Below is a message from C.A.U.S.E.’s president, Ryan Brown, who was recently fired from RDU1 in retaliation for organizing.

Read on to learn more about the campaign, Amazon’s response, and how to support C.A.U.S.E. in their fight to become the second unionized Amazon warehouse in the U.S., and win the first union election at Amazon in the South!

A message from Ryan Brown, President of C.A.U.S.E.:

I’m the president of the union at the Amazon warehouse just outside Raleigh, NC. Our union election is from February 10 to February 15th just outside Raleigh, NC. If we win, we’ll become the first unionized Amazon facility in the south.

Coming off the historic holiday strikes around the country and the first Whole Foods union victory since Amazon bought it, we have the momentum.

But Jeff Bezos doesn’t want to let us win. His new buddy Donald Trump just illegally fired a member of the NLRB, which means the Board won’t have a quorum to rule on lawbreaking during this election period.

And Amazon is taking advantage of the lack of oversight. They’re installing new TVs all over the warehouse, which play anti-union propaganda on a loop. They’re blacking out the windows so that you can’t look at anything else on your breaks. And they’ve installed metal detectors in new, odd, places. It’s downright Orwellian. We can’t do our jobs to get people their packages without being distracted by a barrage of propaganda.

Amazon is also trying to use captive audience meetings (the kind that was ruled unlawful in November) to divide us by race. For example, they’ll pick out a group of Hispanic workers and tell them that the Black union members just don’t want to work as hard, and that’s why they want a union. This union busting is disgusting.

We just have days to fight back against Amazon’s lawless union busting. But we have a plan to win! We’re planning a gigantic rally for all 4,500 workers at RDU1 the weekend before the election―and we need your help to make sure we can accommodate everybody. Can you chip in and help us win this election?

CAUSE RDU1 union election event

Amazon is pulling out all the stops because they are scared. They saw us in the streets before Christmas. They saw our comrades at Whole Foods pull off a win this week. Amazon knows that if we can win a union in North Carolina, we can win anywhere. That’s why they’re going overboard to try to stop us.

With your help, and with the support of partners like The Labor Force, we will become the first Amazon union in the South. Split a donation today!

Thank you,
Ryan Brown
