C.A.U.S.E. Union Election Results Are In

We’ve got tough news about C.A.U.S.E.―the union that held its vote to become the first unionized Amazon facility in the South.

Amazon’s Orwellian Tactics

In the most anti-union, anti-worker climate in our lifetime, Amazon took no chances in trying to crush the union in Garner, NC’s RDU1 warehouse. Amazon ran a propaganda campaign straight out of Orwell, installing new TVs blaring looped anti-union videos and blacking out the windows so that workers couldn’t look away. They targeted union members for discipline and firings in the runup to the election―including firing the union president, Rev. Ryan Brown.

The C.A.U.S.E. union election results are in, and the propaganda worked. Amazon won this round. But if they think we’re defeated, they’re badly mistaken.

C.A.U.S.E.’s Fight Is Far From Over

Workers built this union to look out for each other. With minimal resources, they built a movement that pushed one of the richest corporations in America to the brink. Throughout organizing at RDU1, the union made connections across North Carolina. C.A.U.S.E.  is ready to expand this movement.

This is what we mean when we say that the way to grow power is to use power. Instead of sitting and waiting for help to arrive from their bosses or the politicians in Washington DC, this union stood up and demanded better. C.A.U.S.E. may not have won, but they’re only more determined to fight.  Our movement won’t stop until corporate bullies like Amazon treat their workers right.

Everyone who contributed to this campaign and rallied in support of C.A.U.S.E. has much to be proud of. The truth is, workers don’t always win a union on the first try―especially in the South. We’re going to keep trying, and keep improving, until we win.

The Labor Force is here for unions like C.A.U.S.E., who are brave enough to stand up for their rights and dignity against some of the richest corporations in the world. We bring resources and experience from fight to fight, connecting the entire labor movement to new organizing efforts.

We are grateful to you for standing alongside us, for making sure C.A.U.S.E. had a fighting chance and can keep battling Amazon. Rest up, because the next fight is just around the corner.

In solidarity,

The Labor Force
