Let’s work together.
Tell us a little bit about you and your organization.
The Labor Force team was instrumental in helping Amazon Labor Union build its email list and raise critical funds for our union in its earliest stages. As workers going up against one of the biggest corporations in the world, having this way to channel public support for ALU into concrete actions and fundraising continues to be a vital part of our fight.

As an independent union, Trader Joe’s United relies on donations from our supporters in order to continue to organize stores and fight for the contract Trader Joe’s workers deserve. Our supporters have supercharged our campaign by donating to our legal fund and taking action to pressure Trader Joe’s to live up to its values. The Labor Force team was a huge part of helping us build our email list and develop a public base of support for our work.
Jamie Edwards, President, Trader Joe’s United
Can you give me an example?
Yes! We’ve already tested our strategies on a smaller scale by working closely with groups like Trader Joe’s United, the independent union of Trader Joe’s workers.
TJU’s “Reinstate Steve” campaign is an excellent example.
In 2023, Trader Joe’s fired Steve Andrade, an employee and union supporter at the Hadley, MA location, in what the union saw as a clearly retaliatory firing.
In conjunction with on-the-ground organizing, TJU engaged their email list in a series of escalating actions to further pressure Trader Joe’s to reinstate Steve.
Collectively, TJU’s supporters sent over 27k letters to corporate, made countless phone calls to the Hadley store, and added over 24k signatures to a petition hand delivered to TJ’s East Coast corporate headquarters.
While Trader Joe’s did not ultimately reinstate Steve, through these actions TJU raised over 4k toward legal costs needed to adjudicate Steve’s case with the NLRB, grew their email list by thousands of subscribers, interrupted business as usual at both the store and corporate levels, and showed their employer the strength of their public as well as member support.
We are looking to uplift campaigns like this one where our actions can have a direct and meaningful impact for workers on the ground.
Frequently Asked Questions
What types of groups do you work with?
We work with all kinds of labor groups, including workers’ centers, independent unions and worker groups, and established unions.
How can my labor organization collaborate with you?
If you’re interested in having one of your organization’s campaigns shared with our community, please reach out through the form on this page.
What campaigns have you already worked with?
The Labor Force is a newly formed organization, but our team has been working together for over a year, testing our strategies with groups including Amazon Labor Union and Trader Joe’s United. We’re now expanding our work to collaborate with organizations across the labor movement.
What’s your policy for choosing campaigns and collaborators?
Because the labor movement belongs to all workers, by extension so does our work. That’s why we work with groups from all parts of the movement, don’t get involved in disputes, and will never be influenced by funding. We are an independent decision-making body with the sole objective of supporting workers and building power as a unified labor movement.
I’m not part of a labor organization but I really want to get involved, what’s next?
