Every day, workers are injured while trying to fulfill Amazon orders. And instead of working to make warehouses safer, Amazon treats these injuries as the cost of doing business. The United States Senate investigated, and found that Amazon warehouses recorded over 30 percent more injuries than the warehousing industry average in 2023.
Amazon is a $2.3 trillion corporation. It made over $36 billion in profits last year alone. Its founder is the 2nd richest man on Earth. It must not be allowed to treat its workers as disposable.
That’s why Amazon workers are rising up and fighting back. They’re building worker-led organizing committees, launching walkouts and strikes, and preparing for the next phase of direct action. But they can’t do it alone. Will you co-sign their Safety Bill of Rights?
Take Action: Tell Amazon to Recognize Amazon Labor Union’s Safety Bill of Rights!
What is Amazon Labor Union’s Safety Bill of Rights?
The Safety Bill of Rights document was written by the rank-and-file workers of Amazon Labor Union-IBT Local 1 in Staten Island, the first unionized Amazon warehouse in the US. It’s not a list of suggestions. It’s a collection of demands, concrete changes that Amazon workers are fighting for in order to create a safe and humane workplace.
Because the truth is, Amazon’s relentless drive for profit comes at the expense of workers’ health, safety, and basic human rights. No worker, at Amazon or elsewhere, should have to choose between income and injury, pass out from overheating, or be forced to use broken and dangerous equipment.
That’s why Amazon workers are demanding safe staffing levels, humane accommodations for workers who need them, safe equipment and workspaces, safe temperatures and clean air, and safe productivity quotas and real rest breaks.
Right now, Amazon workers are organizing, escalating, and preparing to strike again if necessary. Amazon is on notice: ensure a safe workplace for workers or expect an end to business as usual.
Thank you for standing with Amazon workers. If we can organize Amazon, we can organize anywhere!
In solidarity,
The Labor Force
